Holistic Health Care Centre

Project status: Complete

We were privileged to have been appointed as the landscape architects to design the outdoor space for a new centre in the heart of Suffolk; aimed at supporting those who have been diagnosed with a life limiting illness. This is a project spearheaded by The Halesworth Community Nursing Care Fund: an innovative and determined charity with a vision to make life a little easier for those who need it most. As a landscape architect who focuses on health care design this project is close to the hearts of the team here at Studio 31.

Collaborating with the board of trustees and architects, Studio 31 were appointed to unify the building with the surrounding landscape.

Based on research into the relationship between health and nature, the design team created a fully accessible health and wellbeing garden. With end users requiring an inclusive space which was flexible to meet the needs of a wide variety of physical and mental health conditions, this project really ignited the creative passions of the health care design team.

The planting was carefully considered to explore the relationship between the end user and the plants. This harnessed our teams extensive horticultural knowledge and informed the users experience of moving from one space to another.
