National Nature Reserve

Project Status; Complete

Elmley Nature Reserve is a site of huge importance in terms of ecology, not least for the diverse array of rare and unusual birds that nest there. It is a site of special scientific interest (SSSI), a Ramsar site and a special protection area.

The family who live and work there have sensitively expanded the repertoire of this incredible place from it’s roots as a working farm into an off-grid retreat and quite extraordinary wedding venue.

We are privileged to have worked with them on an exciting new project to develop the derelict farmhouse and further enhance the experience of this place as a whole whilst still protecting the biodiversity and ecology therein.

This is a place truly close to our hearts and it has been a true and wonderful challenge to design for a landscape where keeping the integrity of the place is so important.
