We are Studio 31: Something a bit different

As a practice we are always looking to explore new ideas and concepts in the worlds of garden design, landscape architecture and the wider landscape industries. This ensures our landscape architect team are constantly kept on their toes and keeps the practice as a whole full of creative energy.

From paragraph 55 projects to bespoke furniture and sculpture design, our experience extends well beyond the core landscape architecture skill set.

In our search for unique projects and adventures; one of our most recent commissions was to deliver a tree house suspended over a moat on a country estate. We were tasked to use primarily timber from the immediate landscape as well as additional recycled materials and the outcome was a contemporary, subtle, off the grid haven.

As well as working on projects that are out of the ordinary, we are constantly researching new materials and technologies which are relevant and potentially important to this evolving industry. We aim to use the most sustainable, practical and beautiful materials we can in our designs and this gives us an opportunity to be one step ahead in terms of the latest landscape technologies.

Always willing to take up a creative challenge; our designers often take time to devise bespoke furniture which responds to a projects’ individual needs. For many of our clients an off the shelf product just doesn’t suit their scheme. We therefore have extensive experience designing and delivering beautiful, bespoke and handcrafted furniture; made where possible, to utilise local materials and craftsmanship.

Our drive to capture all that the creative and landscape industries have to offer is reflected in not only our projects but also our process, our designs and beyond. Our aim is not only to seek difference but to be different and hopefully therefore drive innovation in an industry with the potential to be so much more than just design.
